Rocks & Soil: http://safari.mansfieldisd.org/SAFARI/montage/play.php?keyindex=10992&location=local
Running Time: 9 min Grades : K to 4
How is rock extracted from the ground? What forces change Earth's surface? In Rocks & Soil, children explore stages in the life cycle of rocks, including the extraction of rocks in quarries and the importance of broken-down rock in soil formation. Part of the multivolume Science Clips for Children series

All about Water Ecosystems: http://safari.mansfieldisd.org/SAFARI/montage/play.php?keyindex=26477&location=local

Running Time: 25 min 16 sec Grades: K to 4
From a tiny puddle to a neighborhood pond to a huge ocean, there are plenty of different water ecosystems found around the world. In All about Water Ecosystems, young viewers will explore freshwater ecosystems such as ponds and rivers, as well as marine ecosystems like coral reefs and the open ocean. They will learn that the animal and plant life found in water ecosystems make up communities that are as complex as they are beautiful. A hands-on experiment demonstrates what happens when pollutants get into ponds and lakes, while a visit with a marine biologist examines the oyster population of the Chesapeake Bay. One of three volumes in the Ecosystems for Children Video Series in the Schlessinger Science Library. Part of the Schlessinger Science Library for Children Collection. This title is based on the concepts outlined in the National Science Education Standards for Life Science: characteristics of organisms, life cycles of organisms and organisms & environments. This title includes a Teacher's Guide.
